Council policies

The EGI council is the main governing body of EGI.eu, a not-for-profit foundation create to manage and coordinate the EGI federation on behalf of its participants. As such, the Council is responsible for defining EGI's overall strategy, acting as well as the senior decision-making and supervisory authority of EGI.eu.

The following is a list of policies approved during Council Meetings (certification required) by council members.

Executive Board: Terms of Reference 16 Sep 2010 Scheme for renewing the EGI.eu Executive Board members: Executive Board (EB) appointments are for a term of two years. An EB member can be re-elected for two consecutive terms (maximum). Candidates that were part of the board for multiple terms can be elected, provided that they have not served the immediate preceding term. Nominations for new EB members must be sent to the EGI Council Chair at latest four weeks before the deciding EGI Council meeting takes place. Self-nominations are allowed, and NGI’s can nominate their own representatives. It should be noted that the obligations (concerning liability) of the Executive Board members are not acceptable for members of all of the EGI participants.
EGI Council: Terms of Reference 16 Sep 2010 Accepting new participants and associated participants: The EGI Council decided to introduce a "de facto" observer status by accepting associated participants with 0 (zero) votes and an agreed financial contribution. The financial contribution is the minimum of 75% of the financial contribution corresponding to 10 votes and the current financial contribution of the Country’s NGI at that time.
