The e-bioinfra system engineer deploys, maintains and supports the distributed computing services at the e-bioscience group of the AMC, as well as participates in research and development that leads to further extension of these services. The services operate under the name of “e-bioinfra platform”, which currently includes a web portal (science gateway) and its underlying components (workflow, data and provenance management, security, etc.). The e-bioinfra system engineer will develop deep knowledge of the systems layer of the e-bioinfra platform, in particular the interfaces with various distributed infrastructures (grid, clusters and cloud). He/She interacts with other members of the e-bioscience team at the AMC, who develop high-level services, and with external parties, who provide basic technology or resources that are used by the e-bioinfra services. The engineer has the fundamental role of extending, maintaining and supporting the various services and users of the e-bioinfra platform, providing a natural link between technology and people in the AMC e-science environment. The engineer ideally has strong analytical skills as he/she will be working with many and complex black-box type of software technologies with unclear relationships.
