Better operational support to international VOs through Resource Centres

Today at the Community Forum 2012 the representatives of many EGI Resource Centres and NGIs met at the Resource Centre Forum to discuss the role of Resource Centres in improving operational support to international virtual communities. Currently EGI lacks a board where international user communities that are already users of EGI can discuss problems that concern sites, such as priorities for access to compute resources, capacity allocation, required availability of grid services, coordinated deployment of VO services etc.

Following the example of WLCG, the community enthusiastically supported the idea of creating a "Grid Deployment Board " for non-HEP VOs. This idea will be further investigated.

There is also an increasing need for cooperation and sharing of expertise among the many Resource Centres in EGI through working groups or interest groups. EGI operations will work in the coming months on this to make sure that the tools and processes are in place to facilitate this.
