The Communications Assistant assists with marketing EGI-InSPIRE and the EGI-InSPIRE collaboration to its members, the user community and the general public. The post includes generating content for the website, leaflets, newsletters, articles, and social media, including blogs. They will work with the members of the communications and marketing team, and liaise with the user community support team on coordinating EGI-InSPIRE’s presence at events. Experience in communicating complex technical and science issues to a range of audiences is desirable.
The Community Platform Designer designs the Community Platform for a given EGI Research Community that is deployed on top of the EGI Infrastructure Platform. Together with the CTO and the Technical Manager, the Community Platform Designer ensures that Community Platform aligns well with the EGI Infrastructure Platform and the EGI Collaboration Platform, Together with representatives of the consorting VRC (or VRCs), the Community Platform Designer ensures that the designed platform runs the services required by the Platform Users at the desired level of quality.

We are looking to recruit a Scientific Training Officer to join the Outreach and Training Team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) located on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus near Cambridge in the UK.
The post holder should possess a PhD in a biomedical subject and ideally have some postdoctoral experience. Familiarity with using large biomedical data sets to answer research questions is essential and experience with issues relating to database interoperability, standards development, secure access to data (including an appreciation of ethical issues), programmatic access to data or semantic web technologies would be a distinct advantage. Experience in training other researchers to use informatics tools, and/or the development of training materials or documentation is highly desirable. It would be beneficial if the post-holder had Java and Perl programming skills. Excellent team-working skills are essential as are excellent communication, language and interpersonal skills.
