Grid Initiatives for e-Science virtual communities in Europe and Latin America (GISELA)
Infrastructure provider
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 11 April 2011
The GISELA project aims at ensuring the long-term sustainability of the European – Latin American (EU-LA) e-Infrastructure, thus guaranteeing the continuity and the enhancement of the Virtual Research Communities using it. For this purpose, the project focuses on two inter-related goals:
Implementing a long-term sustainability model rooted on the concept of Latin American Grid Initiative (LGI) and National Grid Initiatives (NGI);
Supporting Virtual Research Communities (VRC) with the suited e-Infrastructure and Application-related Services required for their research.
EGI and GISELA will work together to enable the vision of providing European scientists and international collaboration for sustainable distributed computing services to support their work. Specifically, this will be done through:
coordinating access to support materials and applications databases
the development and implementation of software necessary to integrate OurGrid middleware with the monitoring, accounting and tool infrastructure of EGI
promoting communication and collaboration between VRCs affiliated with EGI and GISELA
