About StratusLab

The StratusLab project was set up to enhance grid infrastructures with virtualisation and cloud technologies. StratusLab will integrate, distribute and maintain a sustainable open-source cloud distribution to bring cloud to existing and new grid sites; and develop components to coordinate deployment of virtual machines, and to manage repositories of virtual appliances.

Overview of the joint workplan

EGI and StratusLab will work together to enable the vision of providing European scientists and international collaboration for sustainable distributed computing services to support their work. Specifically, this will be done through:

  • workshops and technical meetings to coordinate adoption of cloud computing in Distributed Computing Infrastructures

  • complementary training strategies focusing on cloud middleware installation, configuration and usage by resource providers to support their end users

  • the development of standards identified in the EGI Standards Roadmap and in the StratusLab Plans for Standardization Activities

  • the development of cloud middleware components based on requirements gathered through EGI-InSPIRE and StratusLab within the various scientific communities within EGI and expressed through the EGI Technology and UMD Roadmaps
