Resource Centres
The European Grid Infrastructure (EGI) provides access to computing resources to be shared by researchers. These include, for example, CPUs, data storage, instruments and digital libraries.
EGI resources are contributed by Resource Centres, also known colloquially as sites. Resource Centres are the smallest localised or geographically distributed administration domain, within which EGI resources are managed and operated. They also provide the grid functional capabilities necessary to make their resources seamlessly accessible to authenticated and authorised users through common interfaces. [Glossary]

Resource infrastructure Providers
The EGI Resource Centres are interconnected by the National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) and GÉANT, and are usually managed by Resource Infrastructure Providers, or simply resource providers - legal entities responsible for the sites’ operation and integration into EGI.
The resource providers are they main stakeholders of EGI and most of them are represented by their National Grid Initiatives on the EGI Council. [Glossary]
