The European Grid Infrastructure (EGI) is a federation of resource providers that represents e-infrastructures at a European level, and makes sure policy makers are aware of their importance to modern scientific discovery. EGI.eu coordinates EGI on behalf of its resource providers and works to keep the funding for e-infrastructures a priority, by continuing to build the European e-Infrastructures community and by highlighting the research they support.
The EGI production infrastructure is bigger than the sum of its parts. In practice, this means more and different resources available to the researchers supported by your NGI and more opportunities for innovation in your country.
EGI.eu handles common tasks and provides a forum for discussion and policy making. This allows the National Grid Initiatives (NGIs) to focus on supporting their affiliated researchers, to make better use of resources, and to direct their funding to build a better national e-infrastructure.
