The users of the European Grid Infrastructure (EGI) are organised into Virtual Research Communities (VRCs). An EGI VRC is a discipline-specific group of people who share similar interests and who need to work collaboratively using e-Infrastructures. VRC members have physical access to the infrastructure through Virtual Organisations (VOs). There are already more than 200 VOs hosted on EGI. New users are invited to join these VOs, or establish new ones.

The EGI VO Services team supports the processes of starting-up, managing, operating and monitoring VOs, pointing out to tools, services, documentation and procedural guidelines to maximize the usage of resources. The VO Services are managed by LIP in Portugal and UPV in Spain.

EGI offers four basic types of VO Services:

  • Evaluation of support tools for VOs and VRCs

  • Provision of services and tools for VOs and VRCs

  • Consultancy for VO managers

  • Helpdesk for VO managers

For detailed information on these services please go to the VO Services Wiki.
