New EGI Federation collaborations

GRENA

GRENA is the Georgian Research and Educational Networking Association. GRENA’s main goal is to develop Information Technologies (IT) for research and education. This new collaboration will allow the parties to jointly provide sustainable e-infrastructure services for European and Georgian scientists and support international scientific research activities via EGI and the EOSC.

RENAM

RENAM is the Moldovan National Research and Educational Network. Main activities of RENAM are focused on the development of national e-infrastructure, new informational services and technologies for the scientific community of Moldova. The goal of the collaboration is to allow EGI and RENAM to share the mission of offering computing services for the benefit of European scientists.

T-Systems

T-Systems is a global IT services company, operator of the Open Telekom Cloud, a public cloud service offering SaaS, PaaS and IaaS services based in Europe. T-Systems and EGI will work together to deliver e-infrastructure services to support the needs of global scientific communities, focusing on cloud resources, exchanging applications and datasets that facilitate open science and showcasing services at relevant events.

IDIA

IDIA is the Inter-University Institute for Data Intensive Astronomy and is a partnership of three South African universities: the University of Cape Town, the University of the Western Cape and the University of Pretoria. IDIA was set up to offer astronomers in South Africa a platform on which to carry out research and training activities in the age of SKA (Square Kilometre Array telescope).

EGI’s work with IDIA will focus on cloud resources integration, radio astronomy applications deployment and shared datasets, and the exchange of information about the impact of e-infrastructure services and offerings on science.

OpenRiskNet

OpenRiskNet provides an open e-Infrastructure of virtual research environments integrating data, analysis, modelling and simulation services for all areas of risk assessment, which can be deployed to workstations as well as public and in-house cloud infrastructures. The collaboration with EGI will allow the parties to jointly deliver e-infrastructure services for predictive toxicology and risk assessment research.

OPERAS

OPERAS is the research infrastructure supporting open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities field. Its mission is to coordinate and federate resources in Europe to address the scholarly communication needs of European researchers. EGI and OPERAS will work on delivering e-infrastructure services to support research in social science and humanities. EGI will help OPERAS with cloud compute, cloud platform and data management services.

IMCS-UL

IMCS-UL is the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Latvia. EGI will support IMCS UL to connect with the user access services of EGI and EOSC, particularly to onboard the UL Cloud in the EOSC cloud catalogue, integrate the UL with the EGI Check-in service and deliver user support and training for national and international communities based on matching interest and skills.

CloudFerro

CloudFerro is a Polish company providing services of public, private and hybrid computing loud. It is a developer and an operator of a number of big data-enabled cloud platforms tailored for various stakeholders from European space industry. EGI and CloudFerro will offer coordinated cloud resources for open science via the EOSC, making the CloudFerro services available to international researchers and projects.
