Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure (CLARIN) and
Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH)
Virtual Research Community
Letter of intent (loi) signed on 1 July 2011
CLARIN is committed to establish an integrated and interoperable research infrastructure of language resources and its technology. It aims at lifting the current fragmentation, offering a stable, persistent, accessible and extendable infrastructure and therefore enabling eHumanities.
DARIAH was set up with the mission to enhance and support digitally-enabled research across the humanities and arts. DARIAH aims to develop and maintain an infrastructure in support of ICT-based research practices.
The agreement underlines the intention to ensure the interaction of the DARIAH, CLARIN and EGI infrastructures, to pursue common development goals, and to explore further opportunities for collaboration.
The prime scope of this collaboration is to research, construct and operate infrastructure services for the arts and humanities. Some of the topics that will be discussed in the future include: long-term data storage and availability, curation of datasets, hosting and monitoring of middleware services, and authentication and authorisation issues.
