We are proud to announce that <a href="https://www.egi.eu/about/egi-foundation/team/yannick-legre/">Yannick Legré</a>, Managing Director of the EGI Foundation, has joined the board of directors of the <a href="http://bdva.eu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en-GB&amp;q=http://bdva.eu/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1498225445367000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFYbeIL6ns6CA5Du4uWPEOQ2jwEQw">Big Data Value Association</a> for a two-year mandate.
The BDVA Association is the partner of the European Commission in the Big Data contractual Public Private Partnership (PPP), which has a goal to boost big data value research and innovation in Europe. The board of directors is an integral part of the BDVA governance, proposing changes and updates to policy and monitoring progress of objectives.
By being part of the board of directors of BDVA, the EGI Foundation will be able to actively participate in defining the European Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, but will also strengthen the collaborations between big data initiatives and activities in the EGI community and the European agenda.
&#8220;I&#8217;m really thrilled and looking forward to working more with the Big Data Value Association,&#8221; says Yannick Legré. &#8220;Being part of the board of directors will allow us to better promote EGI&#8217;s solution and dramatically strengthen our relationships with SMEs and Industries.&#8221;
&#8220;EGI is already heavily involved in the realisation of the European Open Science Cloud,&#8221; adds Legré. &#8220;Working closer with the BDVA will allow EGI to bring their perspective to the EOSC strategy and implementation.&#8221;
EGI is also a member of a number of <a href="http://bdva.eu/?q=task-force-overview" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?hl=en-GB&amp;q=http://bdva.eu/?q%3Dtask-force-overview&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1498225445367000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHJnU3uUClbACVhD6s9nQNYut11XQ">BDVA task forces</a> focusing on the areas of i-Space and applications. EGI is also involved in the Governance Taskforce, where we contribute more to the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda for the Big Data Value PPP.
