EGI-Engage signs agreement with PRACE-4IP

EGI-Engage has signed an agreement with the PRACE-4IP project to continue their joint efforts on coordinating the adoption of digital capabilities that accelerate research and innovation and lead to a more solid European e-infrastructure.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will allow joining efforts and developing of coordinated actions which involve user communities and service providers of EGI and PRACE.

The project PRACE-4IP continues the successes of the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE) and starts innovative and collaborative activities, including supporting and educating users to take advantage of massively parallel systems and novel architectures, enhancing the operation of the multi-tier HPC systems and preparing strategies and best practices towards exascale computing.

Through this MoU, the projects will:

  • Identify and coordinate common actions toward increased interoperability and adoption of digital capabilities for data-driven science
  • Analyse the options and advantages of an integrated e-Infrastructure service catalogue for research communities
  • Increase efficiency of operations of systems and federation of services
  • Define common actions to increase the security of collaborating e-Infrastructures services catalogue for research communities

Yannick Legré, Managing Director of the EGI Foundation, comments on the collaboration: “This agreement formalises the fruitful collaboration between EGI–Engage and PRACE-4IP projects and will be the corner stone to expand EGI and PRACE efforts to better support the European Research Area”.

Florian Berberich, Project Manager of PRACE 4IP adds: PRACE and EGI already collaborate on Training and Security. With this MoU we formalise our relationship for the first time and widen the scope of our interactions to include also interoperability and other topics of high importance to the HPC ecosystem.”
