EGI2026 Programme Committee chair Gergely Sipos guides you through the EGI2026 programme. Get your Early Bird tickets now!

The annual EGI Conference serves as a core event for the scientific computing community, bringing together researchers, infrastructure providers, policy makers, and data scientists to discuss advancements in data-intensive research. Taking place from September 21st to September 25th in the lovely Ghent, this year's programme addresses several key topics in scientific computing, such as AI and Digital Twins, green computing, data innovations, trust and security, interoperability and standards. Of course open science and EOSC are also on the programme - and there is also attention for European digital sovereignty.

Technical and Project Meetings
For a large segment of our community, the primary objective of the week is to advance specific project roadmaps, resolve infrastructure dependencies, and finalise governance structures.
- Project Meetings: projects such as GreenDIGIT, ENVRI-Hub Next, EOSC Beyond, and EOSC Data Commons run dedicated tracking and working group sessions to align their technical milestones.
- Kick-offs: two new EGI coordinated projects, EOSC Mesh and ENSURE, kick off during the conference. All project partners will join these in-person meetings to kick off the project work.
Workshops and Tutorials
A series of workshops, accessible to everybody, is organised throughout the week. These workshops are accessible to everyone with an EGI2026 ticket for the day of the workshop. If you plan to attend a workshop, you can indicate your interest here. Workshop topics include: security training for system admins, federated Authentication-Authorisation systems for research infrastructures, EGI introduction for beginners, data-compute partnership models, and HPC-AI integration. You are also welcome to attend the workshops organised by our partners: SMARTCHANGE, CODATA, and Open Nebula.
Interactive Showcases in the Anatomical Theatre
Instead of traditional, static slide presentations, our forum tracks are designed as live, visual stages. These sessions will take place inside a historic anatomical theatre, creating a unique backdrop for projects to actually show off what they are building.
- Demonstrations: Four dedicated demonstration blocks run across Wednesday and Thursday, giving speakers a centralised stage to run live software deployments and present tools.
- The Service Fair: Discover EGI services, engage with the service owners, and request innovations & features.
- Forum: Join sessions with topics such as EOSC, the European Health Data Space, FitSM, Scientific Workflows, and Innovation & Exploitation in European Projects.
- Posters: more than 25+ posters will be presented - authors will pitch for 1’ during the plenary, and you can visit the posters throughout the conference (and, maybe, award a prize for the most interesting one!)
High-Level Sessions and Plenaries
The core sessions and plenaries focus on the macroscopic shifts in scientific computing. Plenary sessions such ‘AI for European Science’ and ‘Towards a European data and compute continuum for research excellence’ explore recent evolutions in data-intensive scientific research, while our ‘Computing for science - an international perspective’ looks beyond European borders. Of course we will also take a look at what the future holds for the EGI Federation, during the closing session. EGI coordinated projects ENVRI-Hub Next, EOSC Beyond and EOSC Data Commons are hosting sessions linking their project activities to the wider trends in scientific research.
Last but not least, we offer a range of parallel sessions populated by talks proposed by the EGI Community on the various topics proposed through the EGI Call for Contributions.
Outside of the core programme, the week also offers plenty of time to unwind and connect. You can look forward to the Opening Reception on Tuesday evening following the first plenary, as well as the official Conference Dinner on Wednesday night (with an optional boat trip to the venue). There will also be the option for city walks and even a brewery visit. Ghent combines historical charm with a vibrant cultural and culinary vibe - plenty to see and do - and maybe it’s even worth it to extend your stay with a day or two …
We look forward to seeing you there!
