Diamond Discovery Hub Launches

The EGI Foundation and GRNET provide computing services for research and represent the gateway to EOSC in the project.

On 7 October 2025, at the CRAFT‑OA final conference, the Diamond Discovery Hub (DDH) was officially launched. The DDH is an initiative designed to catalogue and provide visibility for European Diamond Open Access (OA) journals - those with no author fees, no reader fees, and community-governed.

The Hub is the result of the work under the CRAFT‑OA project. The DDH provides a registry of verified Diamond OA journals, trusted journals that meet six community-developed criteria.

The launch announcement invites the research and publishing community to engage: journals that qualify (or aspire to qualify) as Diamond OA are encouraged to apply for listing on the DDH, thereby gaining visibility and helping to build a robust European Diamond OA ecosystem. Details on the submission and verification process are available via the DDH website.

The establishment of the DDH marks a significant step towards strengthening the infrastructure and visibility of fee-free open access publishing in Europe. For researchers, librarians, funders and publishers alike, the DDH provides a clear, trusted pointer to Diamond OA journals and helps to map and support this growing segment of open scholarship.
