EGI and brainlife.io Sign SLA to Advance European Digital Health and Neuroscience Research

What is brainlife.io

Brainlife.io is an open-source platform for reproducible, AI-enabled neuroscience. Researchers can analyse MRI, EEG, MEG, and connectomics data using more than 600 data-processing Apps, scalable cloud and high-performance computing resources, and interactive Jupyter notebooks. The platform supports machine learning, computational modelling, transparent provenance tracking, and DOI-based publication of complete data workflows. Connected to public archives such as OpenNeuro, DANDI, BossDB, and EMBER, brainlife.io helps researchers build reproducible analyses across laboratories, institutions, and countries. Developed at The University of Texas at Austin, by the Laboratory of Prof. Franco Pestilli, brainlife.io advances trusted neuroscience research, responsible data governance, and international collaboration between neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence.

The Collaboration with EGI

To ensure the reliable operation of these analytical tools, brainlife.io requires robust cloud computing and storage access to ensure they run smoothly for end users. The SLA will ensure the reliable hosting and operation of the platform on the EGI Infrastructure, providing a robust, secure, and scalable environment tailored to support researchers in the health and neuroscience domains. The capacity is fully pledged to the community and is supported through a sponsored funding model.

In particular, the agreement will grant brainlife.io 120 vCPU cores, 144 GB of RAM in total, 2 public IP addresses, and 15 TB of guaranteed online storage capacity, provided by TR-FC1-ULAKBIM. The collaboration also integrates EGI’s Check-in identity services to securely manage community user access.
