Official Opening Plenary
Speeches from key figures set the tone for the conference:
- Dr. Isabel Campos (Spanish National Research Council, CSIC) and Jorge Gomes (Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics, LIP, Portugal) offered warm welcomes on behalf of the local hosts.
- Noemí Mendez Fernández, the Councilor for Culture, Youth, and Education, emphasised the city’s commitment to fostering innovation and digital transformation.
- Tiziana Ferrari, Director of the EGI Foundation, highlighted the importance of collaboration in building a sustainable and cutting-edge digital research ecosystem.

Pre-Opening Colocated Events
Before the official opening, the first day was already buzzing with a rich lineup of side meetings and workshops designed to deepen collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- The GreenDIGIT project hosted an invitation-only internal workshop focusing on green transformation of infrastructures, moderated by Yuri Demchenko and Gergely Sipos.
- The SAGE Technical and General Assembly meeting ran throughout the day, gathering experts in a closed session.
- The IBERGRID Federation sessions, open to all, discussed the federation as their core business with speakers including Enol Fernandez and Tim Wetzel.
- The RI-SCALE side meeting focused on federating research infrastructure data for AI-driven research, moderated by Ville Tenhunen.
A variety of sessions centered on sustainability and green computing featured prominently, including public tutorials on regulations for green computing and tools to lower the environmental impact of software. The afternoon saw workshops on FAIR interoperability in EOSC, alongside further discussions on lowering the environmental impact of digital services. The day was punctuated by networking breaks and an evening reception that gave attendees a chance to connect informally.
