Job: Project Finance Manager (Officer)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Finance Manager (Officer) to join our dynamic team at EGI Foundation.

The Project Finance Manager (Officer) will deal with the administration and financial management of the projects coordinated by the EGI Foundation and will support and advise the project governance on the project financial plan. He or she will support the Project Management Team in project coordination and management activities, will be in charge of project finance and will contribute to Project Management boards.

He or she will be part of the Finance and Administration Team and will work directly with the Project Management Team.

Job Purpose and Responsibilities

  • To contribute to the overall project administration and finance in compliance with the granting authority ruling;
  • Manage project budget during the whole lifecycle from acquisition to execution and completion;
  • Work with the granting authority and project consortium members on the project financial plan;
  • To define the project financial plan management guidelines;
  • To contribute in liaison with the project manager and the scientific coordinator to the definition and the gathering of project metrics and KPIs;
  • Support the granting authority, the project consortium members and project governance boards with financial reports and advise;
  • To organize and gather input for the periodic project reviews;
  • To monitor the budget allocation and budget consumption, identify resource availability issues;
  • To monitor resource and financial expenditures;
  • To support the Project Management Lead with the preparation of materials to adhere to contractual obligations;
  • To lead and coordinate project’s audits. Participate within the Finance and Administration Team in annual external audits.

Project Finance Manager (Officer) would be expected to cover other aspects of project management such as:

  • To contribute in liaison with the project manager and the scientific coordinator to the definition of other project management plans including the project data management plan, the project quality management plan, and the risk management plan;
  • To contribute to the project impact report.

Relationships

Project Finance Manager (Officer) will report to the Finance and Control Manager and works closely with

  • Project Management Team for the projects finance control and preparation of intermediate and periodic reports;
  • Project Management Lead to provide reports and defining guidelines for the consortia;
  • Partners of the projects and their governing board members;
  • Project’s governing and management boards;
  • EGI Participants to organize their participation in projects and gathering necessary support documentation;
  • Innovation Manager and Communications Lead to support dissemination and communication activities related to projects participated by the EGI Foundation;
  • Finance and Control Manager to review and validate financial reports and get expert advice on project administration procedures when needed;
  • European Commission officers.

Requirements

Essential requirements

This position is suited for an experienced professional, meeting the following personal and professional requirements:

  • Associate degree in Business Administration or a related field and 5 years of work experience (Manager) / 2 years of work experience (Officer);
  • Demonstrated experience in project finance management, financial background;
  • Demonstrated experience in the finance management of projects with the budget €5M and higher;
  • Extensive knowledge of European Commission financial rules and requirements;
  • Extremely detail oriented, thorough and organised, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to prioritise and plan work and to use time efficiently;
  • Agility and ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently;
  • Ability to lead a process with minimal or no supervision;
  • Excellent skills with tools of the Microsoft Office suite. Good excel knowledge;
  • Finance certifications will be considered a plus.

Offer

  • This opportunity is a full time position (40 hours a week), offered for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal based on your satisfactory performance;
  • Depending on experience, for an employee working in the Netherlands, gross salary for a full-time position will be in the range of €4,102 to €4,485 per month, with additional holiday (8% annual gross) and end of year (5% annual gross) bonuses;
  • Place of work will be at the EGI Foundation office in Amsterdam;
  • Non-native employees who are new to the Netherlands may be eligible for a special tax benefit;
  • You will be entitled to 31 days of annual leave (pro rata) and €100 contribution towards health insurance.
