Meet the EGI2025 Exhibitors: EuroScienceGateway

EGI2025 EuroScienceGateway

Get to know the exhibitors at EGI2025 in this series of interviews, meet us in Santander, Spain from 3-5 June 2025! Today, let's discover the world of Galaxy and EuroScienceGateway.

Galaxy: Scalable, robust infrastructure for data-driven research

Can you explain what EuroScienceGateway does?

EuroScienceGateway (ESG) is a project of UseGalaxy.eu, a free, domain-agnostic and cross-country open-source platform for data analysis. ESG extends Galaxy's capabilities by providing a distributed computing network across 13 European countries, allowing researchers to seamlessly access compute and storage infrastructures, tools, workflows, and services tailored to their needs. Our goal is to facilitate data-driven research and promote the adoption of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data practices, enabling researchers of all skill levels to utilise advanced computational resources and collaborate efficiently.

What is the relationship with EGI?

EuroScienceGateway, which EGI is part of, aligns closely with EGI's mission of promoting the adoption of advanced digital infrastructures and services across Europe. We contribute to building a scalable, open infrastructure that supports data-driven research and FAIR data principles, complementing EGI's efforts to foster an open science environment.

Why do you think it’s important to be at EGI2025?

Being at EGI2025 is essential for showcasing how EuroScienceGateway leverages distributed computing to advance scientific research across Europe. It’s an opportunity to demonstrate our innovative solutions, such as smart scheduling, distributed computing, Bring Your Own Storage, Bring Your Own Data, Bring Your Own Compute capabilities, and advanced data visualisation of jobs across infrastructures. We also aim to engage with a diverse audience, onboard various scientific communities, including material science, astrophysics, and environmental science, and highlight our commitment to data-driven research and open science. By participating in EGII2025, we contribute to the broader conversation about enabling open FAIR data practices and expanding collaborative opportunities with the global research landscape.

What can people expect when they come to your booth?

Visitors can expect to learn about the Galaxy project, its numerous services and features, our distributed computing network, and how it facilitates seamless access to computational resources and data across Europe. We will showcase how researchers from various domains can access and integrate tools and services and produce high-quality FAIR data.

Can delegates see EuroScienceGateway in other sessions/demonstrations/workshops/posters?

Yes. We are presenting two posters and a talk.
