About Ghent

Welcome to Europe’s best kept secret! A city of around 300.000 inhabitants, Ghent (or Gent) is located right between Bruges, Antwerp and Brussels.

Ghent combines the charm of a medieval city centre with a vibrant cultural and culinary (night)life. It is also an emerging tech hub, host to UGent, one the largest universities in Belgium, and a technology cluster with plenty of start-ups having found their home in the city.

Getting around

Ghent is within easy reach of Brussels and Antwerp by train. There’s a regular train service from Brussels Airport Zaventem to Ghent (with or without easy transfer in Brussels), and a bus connection from Brussels Charleroi Airport.

If you’re coming in from Amsterdam, Paris , Köln or London by Eurostar, stay tuned because we will have a discount rate available for you.

Once you’re in the city, walking or cycling will get you anywhere – if you don’t feel like it, there’s a dense tram/bus system to take you around.

Coming by car? Think twice about trying to enter the city centre (there’s very limited car traffic possible), and consider parking your car at one of the P&R parkings at the edge of town (it’s a lot cheaper as well).
