A new paper on the EGI Applications on Demand service was published

A new paper describing the EGI Applications on Demand (AoD) service was published in the journal Future Generation Computer Systems.

Applications on Demand is designed for individual researchers, small research teams and early-phase research infrastructures to support them in their scientific data analysis activities.

The service is available through the EGI Marketplace and allows a user-friendly access to a growing number of scientific applications, tools and application hosting frameworks.

Since the debut of the service in April 2017, the EGI team has received 57 service access requests from users located in 15 countries. These requests came from researchers working in computer sciences, biological and chemical sciences, social aciences, agronomy and health sciences. For example, scientist Simone Ronsisvalle at the University of Catania, used the AoD service to support her research on opioid analgesics. A scientific journal manuscript on this topic is now in preparation.
