Improving service delivery: EGI is awarded ISO certifications
The certifications show that the EGI management systems put in place to plan, implement, monitor and continually improve all processes regarding the EGI Service Catalogue follow the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 standards.
The certifications are a result of the strategic commitment by the EGI Council to establish efficient processes to manage EGI’s service offer that started with the full implementation of the FitSM standard in 2015.
Yannick Legré, Managing Director of the EGI Foundation says: “The effort leading to the certifications helped us to streamline the way we work and improve the coordination of the EGI e-infrastructure. I am positive that we can now provide more value to the EGI Council.”
The preparations for the two rounds of audits in October and December 2016 was greatly facilitated by having, as a first step, all the EGI Foundation staff trained and certified in service management according to FitSM, a lightweight version of the ISO 20000 standard.
Małgorzata Krakowian, Quality and Risk Manager of the EGI Foundation adds: “The work we have done in the past two years has helped us to improve the quality and the reliability of the EGI service delivery. We aim to enhance satisfaction of our customers through consistent approach and continual improvement.”
The ISO 9001:2015 certificate covers all business processes including administration and finance, human resources, quality management, risk management, business relationships and continuous improvement.
ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 certification is a specialization of the previous designed to cover all IT-related services including compute, storage and data as well as internal services enabling Federation.
The ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 certifications are an achievement of the EGI-Engage project, co-funded by the European Union (EU) Horizon 2020 program under grant number 654142.
