The EGI Foundation congratulates the <a href="http://www.lifewatch.eu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">LifeWatch</a> research infrastructure for being granted the legal status of European Research Infrastructure Consortium (<a href="http://ec.europa.eu/research/infrastructures/index_en.cfm?pg=eric" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ERIC</a>) by the <a href="http://ec.europa.eu/research/index.cfm?pg=newsalert&amp;year=2017&amp;na=na-170317" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">European Commission</a>. This measure facilitates many administrative advantages and helps to successfully implement the infrastructure project.
<a href="http://www.lifewatch.eu/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">LifeWatch</a>&nbsp;has a mission to advance the biodiversity domain and ecosystem research. The RI addresses environmental challenges by providing access to large sets of data and services to equip researchers with a state-of-the-art virtual research environment for their studies.
EGI is supporting LifeWatch with computational facilities and analytical tools needed by biodiversity scientists in their research activities.
The <a href="https://wiki.egi.eu/wiki/Competence_centre_LifeWatch/Support" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">EGI-LifeWatch&nbsp;Competence Center</a> (as part of the EGI-Engage project) helps&nbsp;the LifeWatch community to make&nbsp;the best use of EGI’s resources, facilities and expertise.
