Montserrat González Ferreiro is Senior Strategy and Innovation Officer and Service Portfolio Manager at EGI Foundation, driving strategic innovation and service excellence across Europe’s research infrastructure ecosystem. She oversees the full lifecycle of EGI services, leading initiatives that empower scientific communities through innovative technology solutions, bridging strategic vision with operational execution.
Before joining EGI, Montserrat progressed from technical consultant and IT project manager roles in the private sector to senior leadership positions supporting Europe’s research ecosystem. She held leadership roles at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the ELIXIR Hub, and EMBL-EBI, where she led service governance and transformation initiatives. Key achievements include coordinating Spain’s national supercomputing network, implementing structured service and quality management across ELIXIR’s federated infrastructure, and establishing EMBL-EBI’s Service Management System and Data Protection framework.
Montserrat holds an MBA in Management of Research Infrastructures (University of Milano-Bicocca), an MSc and BSc in Telecommunications Engineering (Polytechnic University of Catalonia), and a Postgraduate Diploma in Parallel Computing Architectures for Science (Autonomous University of Barcelona). She is certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP®), Professional Scrum Master & Product Owner (PSM®, PSPO®), FitSM Expert, ITILv4® Foundation, and Data Protection Practitioner, and is currently pursuing advanced professional coaching studies at the University of Deusto, enhancing her ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
