The EGI Federation Strategy 2026–2030 outlines how EGI will evolve to meet emerging challenges and opportunities in the European research infrastructure ecosystem.
The strategy is shaped by key trends transforming the landscape. The growing demand for cross-domain digital infrastructures highlights the need for federated approaches that can serve multiple scientific communities. At the same time, digital sovereignty is becoming a strategic priority in Europe, positioning research infrastructures as key enablers of independent and secure technological capabilities.
In parallel, skills shortages across digital and research domains are creating bottlenecks, underlining the need to strengthen workforce capacity and develop new career pathways.
Together, these trends define the context for EGI’s strategic direction, reinforcing its role as a trusted provider of federated digital services for research and innovation in Europe.
