But what is the current state of quantum technology, and how will it integrate with the classical high-performance and cloud computing networks we rely on?
This webinar serves as the EGI community’s official gateway into the quantum era. Designed for both the quantum-curious and technology providers looking ahead, this session will break down the fundamental physics behind the technology, map out the current quantum landscape, and open a vital dialogue on how the EGI Federation should engage with these emerging systems.

About the speakers
Dr. Attila Marosi is a senior computer scientist at SZTAKI in Hungary, with extensive experience in parallel systems, grid/cloud computing, and distributed architectures. Recognising the shift toward next-generation hardware, Attila’s recent work focuses deeply on tracking the capabilities and practical applications of contemporary Quantum Computing systems. He is involved in initiatives mapping QC architectures and helping translate emerging QC capabilities into practical requirements for modern research infrastructures from a computer science and systems engineering perspective.
Matthew Viljoen is the Service Delivery and Information Security Team Lead at EGI Foundation and has been delivering computing and data services to scientific research communities since 2003. Matthew started his career with software development and prior to joining EGI Foundation, Matthew was responsible for running the data archive for WLCG Tier 1 at STFC in the UK. Matthew also developed the data access and storage services for the Diamond Light Source national synchrotron facility of the UK. Since joining EGI Foundation in 2015, Matthew has been involved in multiple projects developing and delivering services, has been active in numerous RDA initiatives and has led the EGI Foundation Service Delivery and Information Security team since 2017. Matthew holds a BSc Honors degree in Mathematics and Physics from Oxford Brookes University in the UK and has FitSM, ISO/IEC 27001 and ITIL v3 certifications.
