Can you explain what CODATA and the CDIF4EOSC project is about?

CODATA exists to promote global collaboration to improve the availability and usability of data for all areas of research. Cross-Domain Interoperability Framework (CDIF) is a spearhead initiative that improves availability and usability of FAIR data by provide a coherent and comprehensive data engineering framework for integration of FAIR resources. 

CDIF4EOSC is a strategic initiative coordinated by CODATA that will support and grow the ecosystem around CDIF with improved tooling, advanced semantic profiles that are validated through interdisciplinary use cases.

What is the relationship with EGI?

Both EGI and CODATA are committed to building interoperable, inter-disciplinary IT infrastructures for research in complementary roles and have played important roles the development of EOSC. This alignment of interests and goals is highlighted by EGI joining as a partner in the CDIF4EOSC project where EGI is leading WPs that will help enable CDIF adoption by EOSC nodes, in Common European Data Spaces and in the EOSC Federation, and ensuring the CDIF playbook is embedded in EOSC.

Why do you think it’s important to be at EGI2026?

EGI2206 is one of the key engagement opportunities bringing together open science and data infrastructure experts in Europe and beyond. A great opportunity for information exchange and sharing of experiences!

What can people expect when they come to your booth?

We’re happy to discuss how CDIF could be adopted to your particular use cases. We will also present projects we're working on with topics ranging from X-ray crystallography to extreme urban heat.

Can delegates see your organisation in other sessions/demonstrations/workshops/posters?

We have an internal project meeting on 22nd September and CDIF4EOSC on metadata in EOSC and Europe (open workshop organised by CODATA) on 23rd September.
