Can you explain what GreenDIGIT does?

GreenDIGIT is a Horizon Europe project that develops and validates an innovative frameworks, architectural models, and tools designed to lower the environmental and climate footprint of distributed digital Research Infrastructures (RIs) throughout their entire lifecycle. We specialize in energy efficiency and environmental monitoring across the digital continuum—from computing resources to networks. 

What is the relationship with EGI?

 EGI is a core beneficiary and partner in the GreenDIGIT consortium. EGI is one of the four (EGI, SoBigData, SLICES, EBRAINS) major distributed digital RIs powering the project, and GreenDIGIT is actively taking into account / configure EGI's user community and configuration systems with carbon-aware, low-impact intelligence.

Why do you think it’s important to be at EGI2026?

EGI2026 brings together the exact stakeholders we serve: digital service providers, developers, and international scientific communities. It provides a vital platform to share our newly developed carbon-aware metrics, show data providers how to adopt our green reporting tools, and align with the European Green Deal goals. 

What can people expect when they come to your booth?

Delegates will discover actionable developer tools for tracking software "greenness", automated energy-aware workflows, and virtual research environment (VRE) prototypes built for sustainable Open Science. Operators can learn about our smart task-scheduling and power-grid flexibility solutions for large-scale RIs.
