Can you explain what your organisation does?

SmartCHANGE is a Horizon Europe project that wants to revolutionise the prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases, which are responsible for millions of deaths every year and billions of euros in healthcare costs. The project has developed a twinned app digital infrastructure that allows families of children to encourage them towards healthy behaviours and their doctors to monitor long-term risks related to their lifestyle.

What is the relationship with EGI?

The relationship between centres on leveraging Europe’s premier federated cloud infrastructure to train, host, and scale privacy-preserving AI models for paediatric health. SmartCHANGE executes complex machine learning workflows across distributed European pilot sites without centralising sensitive patient data, maintaining strict GDPR compliance and aligning with European Health Data Space (EHDS) standards.

Why is it important to be at EGI2026?

Participating in EGI2026 is critical for SmartCHANGE to showcase its privacy-preserving paediatric AI architecture to Europe's leading scientific computing community, given the importance of federated learning in the project, which can can execute workflows across distributed pilot sites without centralising sensitive patient data.
