Supporting the design of marine monitoring networks with EGI Services

EGI recently signed a Service Level Agreement with the project MINKE to run until June 2023.

MINKE is an INFRAIA project that brings together 16 key European marine metrology research infrastructures. The objective is to coordinate the use and development of oceanographic data and propose an innovative framework of ‘quality of oceanographic data’ for the different European actors in charge of monitoring and managing the EOVs (Essential Ocean Variables) and marine ecosystems.
Data quality is the key element in Ocean & Coastal Observing Systems to provide reliable measurements for developing evidence-based environmental policies. MINKE doesn’t just address data quality but also focuses on all data quality dimensions, with a special emphasis on those related to meteorological factors. The project proposes a new vision in the design of marine monitoring networks, integrating two dimensions of data quality, namely accuracy and completeness, as the driving components of quality in data acquisition.

EGI Services

MINKE uses the following EGI services
Cloud Compute

Cloud Compute gives you the ability to deploy and scale virtual machines on-demand. It offers guaranteed computational resources in a secure and isolated environment with standard API access, without the overhead of managing physical servers.

Online storage

Online Storage allows you to store data in a reliable and high-quality environment and share it across distributed teams.

EGI Check-in is a proxy service that operates as a central hub to connect federated Identity Providers (IdPs) with EGI service providers.
